Notice of public meeting: IMO Sub-Committee on Ship Systems and Equipment

The Department of State will conduct a public meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2023, by way of teleconference. The primary purpose of the meeting is to prepare for the 10th session of the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Subcommittee on Ship Systems and Equipment (SSE 10) to be held at the IMO Headquarters in London, United Kingdom from Monday, March 4 to Friday, March 8, 2024.

The Department of State will conduct a public meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, both in-person at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and via teleconference. The primary purpose of the meeting is to prepare for the 10th session of the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Subcommittee on Ship Design and Construction (SDC 10) to be held at the IMO Headquarters in London, United Kingdom from Jan. 22 to Jan. 26, 2024.

Recap of the 9th session of the IMO sub-committee on ship systems and equipment

The IMO Sub-Committee on Ship Systems and Equipment (SSE), held its 9th session February 27- March 3, 2023 in London, England. Ms. Brandi Baldwin, Chief of the Coast Guard’s Lifesaving and Fire Safety Division in the Office of Design and Engineering Standards, led the U.S. delegation, comprised of members from the Coast Guard and technical advisors from government and private sectors.

Federal Register Notice: Public meeting in preparation for International Maritime Organization PPR 10 meeting

The Department of State announced in the Federal Register it will conduct a public meeting at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, both in-person at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC, and via Microsoft Teams. The primary purpose of the meeting is to prepare for the 10th session of the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Pollution Prevention and Response Sub-Committee (PPR 10) to be held in London, United Kingdom from April 24 to 28, 2023.

IMO Sub-Committee on Human Element, Training and Watchkeeping develops amendments to the STCW Code to combat bullying and harassment, including sexual assault and sexual harassment

Bullying and harassment, including sexual assault and sexual harassment (SASH), in the maritime environment have known detrimental effects on seafarers including depression, poor performance, unhealthy coping mechanisms and isolation. Moreover, seafarers who experience or witness bullying and harassment, including SASH, are more likely to make errors at work and provide compromised levels of service.
