Availability of Public Notice to construct the new "C" street bridge over Sacramento River

SAN FRANCISCO — An application has been received by the Commander, Eleventh Coast Guard District from the city of Sacramento for a U.S. Coast Guard Bridge permit for approval to construct the new “C” Street (replacement “I” Street) highway drawbridge across the Sacramento River at mile 59.5, between the cities of West Sacramento, Yolo County and Sacramento, Sacramento County, California (38° 35' 21.3" N, 121° 30' 21.3” W).

May 9, 2024, the Coast Guard issued Public Notice 11-141a regarding the proposed new bridge. After the comment period concluded, the City of Sacramento proposed a change in the horizontal clearance originally advertised in the notice. The City of Sacramento now requests that the horizontal clearance of the proposed bridge, measured normal to the centerline of the channel, be reduced by 4 feet from 282 feet to 278 feet due to the addition of pier protection.

Public Notice (11-141b), dated Feb. 13, 2025, is being published on the Coast Guard navigation website.  The public notice contains a detailed description of the proposed bridge project and includes location map and bridge drawings with navigational clearances.  Interested parties can access active public notices for Bridge Projects for the Eleventh Coast Guard District at the following website: https://go.usa.gov/xJ8yw.  The public notice may also be obtained by calling the Eleventh Coast Guard District Bridge Office at (571) 607-5820; by writing to Commander, Eleventh Coast Guard District, Coast Guard Island, Bldg. 50-2, Alameda, CA 94501-5100; or by email request at D11Bridges@uscg.mil.

Interested parties are requested to express their views, in writing, on the proposed change in the horizontal clearance of the bridge project including its possible impacts to navigation. Comments will be received for the record at the address given in Public Notice (11-141b) through Feb. 28, 2025.
