Coast Guard, partners search for 2 missing swimmers

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard and agency partners are searching for two missing swimmers off the North Shore of Oahu Saturday.

Missing are a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man last seen on Ke Iki beach near Sharks Cove late Friday night.

Coast Guard Sector Honolulu watchstanders received notification at 11 a.m. Saturday from Honolulu Fire Department personnel that the man’s mother had reported the pair missing at 10:45 a.m.

Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew at 12:03 p.m. to aid in the search. The aircrew arrived on scene and began searching at 12:24 p.m.

On-scene weather is winds of 12-15 mph, 6-8 foot seas and poor visibility near the shore.

  • Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew
  • Honolulu Fire Department Battalion 5 crew
  • Honolulu Fire Department Engine Company crew
  • Honolulu Fire Department Rescue Company boat crew
  • Honolulu Fire Department Air 1 helicopter crew
  • Honolulu Fire Department Air 3 helicopter crew
  • Honolulu Fire Department drone team
  • Honolulu Ocean Safety Department jet ski crews
  • Honolulu Police Department
