MEDIA ADVISORY: Inaugural Coastie of the Year Ceremony to be held in San Diego

SAN DIEGO – The inaugural Coastie of the Year Award Ceremony, organized by the San Diego Coast Guard City, scheduled to be held at Sector San Diego, Jan. 22, 2025.

The nominees include Lt. Emma Hvozdovich, Chief Warrant Officer Frank Silva, Senior Chief Petty Officer Francisco Quilantang, Chief Petty Officer Cristina Berrios, Petty Officer 1st Class Kirsten Allen.

The speakers include Mayor Todd Gloria and Rear Adm. Joseph Buzzella, the Coast Guard District 11 Commander.

This inaugural ceremony is aligning with the theme of remembering the past and embracing the future by being named after Mark Mellinger, a Coast Guard Vietnam War veteran, whose service will be commemorated at the event.

All attendees must RSVP by calling Coast Guard Public Affairs at 619-252-1304 for gate access and emailing SDCoastGuardCity@gmail.com. Requests must be submitted by Jan. 21, 2025.
