SEATTLE – The Coast Guard has issued an update to its Notice of Availability in the Federal Register for the Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) regarding Base Seattle, which will extend its availability for public review until Jan. 10, 2025.
The original end date for review was Dec. 15, 2024.
This extended schedule for the final PEIS allows more time for public review due to the complexity of the proposed actions and the presence of multiple federal holidays during the review period.
The Coast Guard will issue its decision to either implement or not implement the proposed action after Jan. 10, 2025. If the Coast Guard decides to implement the proposed action, the Record of Decision will detail the selected alternative and any necessary mitigation measures.
The Coast Guard analyzed the potential impacts resulting from the proposed expansion and modernization of Base Seattle. The current PEIS can be read in its entirety at the following online location: https://www.dcms.uscg.mil/NEPA
