NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 66-year-old woman Sunday from the cruise ship Brilliance of the Seas approximately 92 miles offshore from Southwest Pass, Louisiana.
At approximately 5:35 a.m. Coast Guard District Eight watchstanders received a report from the cruise ship Brilliance of the Seas requesting a medevac for a 66-year-old woman reportedly experiencing a medical emergency.
Watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac.
The aircrew arrived on-scene, hoisted the woman aboard, and transported her to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at University Medical Center in New Orleans in stable condition.
