HONOLULU – The Coast Guard medevaced the captain of a commercial fishing vessel 65 miles offshore Honolulu Monday.
Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center watchstanders received a phone call at 4:17 p.m. from a crew member aboard the 85-foot commercial fishing vessel Triple Andy who reported the 69-year-old captain was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Air Station Barbers Point arrived on scene with the Triple Andy at 8 p.m. and transported the captain to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. The captain is reportedly in stable condition.
