NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 48-year-old man Saturday from a charter fishing vessel approximately 75 miles offshore from Destin, Florida.

At approximately 7 p.m. Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received a report from the charter fishing vessel Kraken Reels requesting a medevac for a 48-year-old man reportedly experiencing a medical emergency.

Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac.

The aircrew arrived on-scene, hoisted the man aboard, and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.
