Coast Guard, partner agencies searching for missing man near South Padre Island, Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard, along with partner agencies, is searching for a missing man near South Padre Island, Texas, Sunday.

Missing is a Hispanic man last seen wearing black shorts.

Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders received a notification at approximately 7:45 a.m. from Cameron County Sheriff's Department dispatchers reporting that a man had gone missing and was last seen swimming in waters near Boca Chica Beach.

Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station South Padre Island Response Boat- Small crew and a Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter crew to search for the missing man.

  • Cameron County Fire Department
  • South Padre Island Police Department
  • Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
