MULTIMEDIA RELEASE: Coast Guard medevacs woman from cruise ship approximately 98 miles off Cape Lookout

A Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston, South Carolina MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew medevaced an 85-year-old woman suffering stroke-like symptoms aboard a cruise ship Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, approximately 98 miles off Cape Lookout.

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Coast Guard medevaced an 85-year-old woman aboard a cruise ship Sunday, approximately 98 miles off Cape Lookout.

Sector North Carolina Command Center watchstanders received a medevac request from the cruise ship Carnival Venezia after a woman aboard the ship began experiencing stroke-like symptoms.

A Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston, South Carolina MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted the woman and flew her to Wilmington Airport where local EMS transported her to New Hanover Wilmington Regional Medical Center.

The cruise ship was en route to the Bahamas.
