SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Unified Command continues to coordinate the recovery of diesel fuel and reports no active sheening after a 105-foot yacht caught fire in Marina del Rey.
The motor yacht, The Admiral, caught fire around 8:30 p.m., Wednesday. The responsible party is working with Clean Harbors organizations to contain and recover the discharge from the yacht.
“Coast Guard crews along with teams from CDFW-OSPR and the responsible party have been working to recover the diesel fuel in the area and maintain a constant observation of the source,” said Capt. Stacey Crecy, Coast Guard Federal On-Scene Coordinator. “The great coordination and continued partnership from all agencies allow us to conduct the response efforts and ensure the safety of both the environment and the public.”
“Our environmental scientists are on-scene working to monitor and limit impacts to environmental resources and sensitive sites,” said Christian Corbo, CDFW-OSPR State On-Scene Coordinator. “Currently, there have been no observed impacts to environmental sensitive sites.”
The responsible party has developed a claims process for affected vessels within the marina which can be accessed here: AdmiralFire2024.com.
