JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Coast Guard is scheduled to host a public meeting, Thursday, to discuss the scope, process, and next steps for public engagement in the Port Access Route Study (PARS) for the approaches to the Port of Cape Canaveral and vessel transit areas offshore Jacksonville, Daytona, and Canaveral.
The notice of public meeting was published in the federal register on Sept. 12, and follows the notice of study soliciting public comment published in April.
The meeting is scheduled to be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Maritime Center (Commission Room), 445 Challenger Road, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Details on how to join virtually can be found in the Sector Jacksonville Marine Safety Information Bulletin.
The Coast Guard is conducting the PARS to maintain and improve navigational safety by determining if shipping safety fairways and/or routing measures should be established, adjusted, or modified due to a variety of factors including continued growth in the aerospace industry and operations.
The recommendations of the study may subsequently be implemented through rulemakings or in accordance with international agreements.
This meeting is open to the public, and the Coast Guard invites those attending to bring additional comments that support the goals of the PARS.
