ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Coast Guard will host a free, two-day family event at Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island on Friday and Saturday, offering the public a chance to interact with Coast Guard members and explore career opportunities, capabilities, and demonstrations.
Who: Adm. Kevin Lunday, Coast Guard vice commandant, Coast Guard members, and the local public
What: The Coast Guard invites the media and members of the public to interact with Coast Guard personnel, view aircraft and boats, and experience interactive displays and demonstrations
Where: Schwiebert Riverfront Park, 101 17th St., Rock Island, IL, 61201
When: Friday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., CDT; Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., CDT
This free event is open to the public and will consist of interactive displays and demonstrations.
Helicopter search and rescue demos are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Coast Guard Honor Guard drill demos are scheduled for 11:50 a.m. on Friday, and 12:20 p.m. on Saturday. There will also be a response boat crew, K-9 teams, members from the Coast Guard Museum, the Coast Guard Gaming team, a cooking demonstration by Coast Guard culinary staff, as well as numerous Coast Guard personnel representing the service’s many career paths.
Members of the public are invited to attend the event, speak with Coast Guard members, and learn about Coast Guard capabilities and careers.
