Coast Guard medevacs 52-year-old from cruise ship offshore Galveston,Texas

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard medevaced an 52-year-old man from a cruise ship offshore Galveston, Texas, Thursday.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a medevac request at 7:55 p.m. from a crew member aboard the Carnival cruise ship Breeze stating a 52-year-old male passenger reportedly presented symptoms of a stroke aboard the vessel. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac.

Watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter air crew to conduct the medevac.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene, embarked the passenger and transported him to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in stable condition.
