JUNEAU, Alaska – The media is invited to attend the 17th Coast Guard District’s “Buoy Tender Olympics” on August 21, 2024.
The Buoy Tender Olympics is part of Coast Guard District 17’s annual Buoy Tender Round-up (BTR), a week-long event that offers participants an opportunity to receive specialized training, engage in discussions to enhance operations, and test their seamanship skills.
The Buoy Tender Olympics takes place on the third day of BTR and consists of several events designed to test participants’ seamanship, build camaraderie, and strengthen relationships among crews and partners.
The events include a chain pull, line toss, boom spot, Tug-O-War, and heat-and-beat.
