MEDIA ADVISORY: Coast Guard to hold commissioning ceremony in Lake Worth

MIAMI — The Coast Guard is inviting media to attend the commissioning of Marine Safety Unit Lake Worth in Lake Worth. 

WHO: Lt. Giacomo Terrizzi III, commanding officer of MSU Lake Worth 

WHAT: Transition of Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment Lake Worth to Marine Safety Unit Lake Worth 

WHEN: Friday, July 19, 11 a.m. 

WHERE: Port of Palm Beach, 1 E 11th Street, Riviera Beach, FL 33404 

WHY: The ceremony celebrates the appointment of its commanding officer and the increase of the unit's authority for the northern portion of Sector Miami’s area of responsibility.  

“The change from an MSD to MSU in Lake Worth will bring more Coast Guard resources to the area,” said Lt. Giacomo Terrizzi, prospective commanding officer of MSU Lake Worth. “The expansion in authority demonstrates our service's dedication to the surrounding maritime community as the area continues to expand and evolve.”
