CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a man, Monday, from a vessel 40 miles off Tybee Island, Georgia.
Coast Guard Sector Charleston received a notification at 5:25 a.m., from the operator of the Circle Back, a 36-foot sport fisher, stating a 39-year-old male was experiencing heart attack-like symptoms. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac.
Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Savannah helicopter crew to conduct the medevac.
The helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
