CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Coast Guard Station Cortez boat crew rescued a kayaker, Monday, after his kayak flipped off Bradenton Beach Marina.
A good Samaritan notified Station Cortez’s communications watchstander that a 74-year-old man was in distress.
The boat crew arrived on scene, located the kayaker, and brought him to awaiting Manatee County emergency medical services at Anna Maria Oyster Bar.
“Station Cortez was able to rescue the kayaker quickly and efficiently thanks to the good Samaritan’s prompt report,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Angel Cisneros, Station Cortez. “All kayakers are reminded to have a life jacket, sound-making device, and a light if paddling at night.”
