SAN FRANCISCO – A Coast Guard aircrew and boat crew are searching for a 54-year-old male off the coast of Martins Beach in Half Moon Bay, California.
The man and a 5-year-old girl were reportedly swept off the beach by a wave, but the girl was recovered at Martins Beach by San Mateo County Fire personnel and transported to a nearby hospital.
Coast Guard Sector San Francisco command center personnel received the report at 1:20 p.m., and immediately directed the launch of search and rescue personnel. A Coast Guard Station Golden Gate boat crew aboard a 47-foot motor lifeboat arrived on scene at 2:14 p.m., and an aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter arrived on scene at 3:10 p.m.
The Coast Guard Cutter Hawksbill, an 87-foot patrol boat homeported in Monterey is enroute to Half Moon Bay and is expected to arrive at approximately 11:45 p.m.
The condition of the girl is unknown at this time.
The current weather and sea conditions in Half Moon Bay are 57-degree water temperature, 5 knot winds, and 2-to-4-foot seas with 10 miles of visibility.
