CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a woman, Wednesday, from a cruise ship 75 miles offshore Brunswick, Georgia.

Coast Guard Seventh District watchstanders received a medevac request at 10:11 p.m., Tuesday, from the cruise ship Mein Schiff stating a 62-year-old passenger was suffering from symptoms of hypertension. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac.

Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Savannah helicopter crew to conduct the medevac.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted the passenger and her husband, then transported them to Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport where EMS were standing by.
