ROCK ISLAND, Ill.— The Coast Guard will host a free family event in Rock Island, Saturday, to engage with the public, and display Coast Guard capabilities and career opportunities.

What: The Coast Guard’s Atlantic Area Commander invites the media and members of the public to interact with Coast Guard crewmembers, aircraft and boats during a ‘Mission Mighty Mississippi’ family event
Where: Schwiebert Riverfront Park, 101 17th St., Rock Island, IL, 61201
When: From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., CST, Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023
The event is free, family focused, open to the public, and scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will consist of interactive displays including MH-65 Dolphin helicopters, response boats, a K-9 and marksmanship unit, a search and rescue demonstration, a video gaming tournament, hosted by the Coast Guard Gaming team, and a cooking demonstration by Coast Guard culinary staff.
Members of the public are invited to attend the event, speak with Coast Guard members, and learn about Coast Guard capabilities and officer and enlisted career paths.
