Coast Guard returns port condition to Normal in Maryland region waterways

BALTIMORE — The captain of the port for Coast Guard Sector Maryland-National Capital Region returned the port condition to Normal Saturday at 10 p.m. following the passage of Tropical Storm Ophelia.

The port and navigable waterways are open for all traffic.

The Normal port condition applies for Maryland waters of the Chesapeake Bay, the western approaches to the Chesapeake and Delaware (C&D Canal, the portion of the C&D Canal within Maryland), the Potomac River, Ports of Baltimore, Washington D.C., Annapolis, Salisbury, and Ocean City, Delaware.

All vessel and facility operators are urged to remain vigilant and report storm-related debris in the federal channels as well as any aid to navigation discrepancies to the Sector Maryland-NCR Command Center at 410-576-2593 or 2525.
