Coast Guard medevacs man near Crab Island, Florida

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced a 31-year-old man Saturday near Crab Island, Florida.

A Coast Guard Station Destin 27-foot Response Boat-Small boatcrew already underway received a call via VHF channel 16 at approximately 1:30 p.m. of a man reportedly experiencing heat exhaustion-like-symptoms and in need of medical assistance. 

The boatcrew diverted from their route to assist. 

After arriving on scene, the crew embarked the patient aboard their vessel and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical personnel at station.
