54-year-old man medically evacuated from cruise ship by Coast Guard

Air Station San Diego

SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 54-year-old man from a cruise ship approximately 45 miles off the San Diego coast, Tuesday.

Cruise Ship Carnival Radiance crewmembers contacted Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center watchstanders requesting a medevac for a man experiencing seizure-like symptoms.

A Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched to Carnival Radiance’s location.

Once on the scene, the Jayhawk crew hoisted the man and transported him back to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

The man was reported to be in stable condition.
