A U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy (WAGB 20) station keeps alongside a multi-year ice floe while a team of crew and researchers install equipment in the Beaufort Sea, Aug. 6, 2023. Researchers monitor and set up science instruments to begin data collection on an ice floe next to U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy (WAGB 20) in the Beaufort Sea, Aug. 6, 2023. The objectives included the installation of two major instruments: the Waves, Weather, Ice Mass, Balance, and Ocean (WIMBO) device, a massive weather buoy destined to remain at sea; and a Dynamic Ocean Topography device, collecting sea surface data. WHO: Capt. Michele Schallip, Coast Guard Cutter Healy (WAGB 20) commanding officer, and Igor Polyakov, a Nansen and Amundsen Basins Observational System (NABOS) scientist.

WHAT: Schallip will be available to discuss the Healy's capabilities, and Polyakov will be able to discuss the upcoming mission conducting oceanographic research in the Arctic Ocean in partnership with the National Science Foundation.
