CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater aircrew medevaced a woman, Tuesday, after she suffered a back injury while on a 34-foot boat, 73 miles west of Hernando Beach.

Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders were notified that a 42-year-old woman suffered a back injury after the vessel took a wave and she fell to the deck.

The responding aircrew aboard an MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter arrived on scene, hoisted the woman and transported her to Tampa General Hospital to receive a higher level of care. Her condition is unknown at this time.

“The aircrew was able to properly evacuate the injured woman thanks to the detailed report from the vessel's captain,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Destin Dinapolis, Sector St. Petersburg command center watchstander. “Our crews are highly trained and highly capable of executing their duties at a moments notice."
