CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard assisted three boaters whose vessel began taking on water 8 miles off North Padre Island, Texas, Wednesday.

Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi command center watchstanders received a call via VHF-FM channel 16 at 10:31 a.m. from a person aboard a 20-foot pleasure craft stating the boat was taking on water with three adults aboard.

Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and diverted a Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew, as well as an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew. Watchstanders also directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Port Aransas 45-foot Response Boat–Medium crew.

Once on scene, the RB–M crew used a pump dropped by the Ocean Sentry aircrew to dewater the vessel. The RB–M crew then escorted the boaters safely to Clems Marina in Corpus Christi.

No injuries were reported.
