Who: Lt. Michael Rosenberg, team lead, Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team Seattle (MSST) 91101.

What: Lt. Rosenberg will be available to discuss waterborne missions in the Kodiak vicinity and to encourage mariners to prepare for the likely occurrence that a Coast Guard boarding team inspects their vessel for compliance.

Where: Kodiak vicinity.

When: July through August.

Why: The Coast Guard is scheduled to conduct waterborne missions in the Kodiak vicinity throughout July and August as Coast Guard Sector Anchorage augments its capabilities with small boat teams from Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team Seattle (91101). The Coast Guard is responsible for enforcing living marine resources (LMR) regulations on domestic, commercial, recreational, and charter fishing vessels. Tasked with enforcing applicable fisheries laws, the Coast Guard’s goal is to provide the at-sea law enforcement presence necessary to reach national goals for LMR conservation and management. Vessel boardings are a critical component to accomplishing this mission providing an opportunity for teams to inspect a vessel’s catch, gear, and other items to ensure regulatory compliance as well as safety.
