NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Coast Guard is scheduled to conduct a search and rescue demonstration at Coast Guard Station Eaton’s Neck to educate on responsible boating during National Safe Boating Week.

With a sharp focus on the 30% increase in recreational boating fatalities across the northeast in 2022, the event aims to showcase Coast Guard capabilities and coordination to safeguard the boating public by providing behind-the-scenes access to our crews and assets.

Participants will be able to interview Capt. Eva Van Camp, the Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound commander, film and interview the search and rescue demonstration with helicopter and boat crews and get tours of rescue and response assets.

Due to safety concerns for demonstration participants and aircraft, the use of drones by the media is prohibited. The events are not open to the public.
