Coast Guard extends timeline to finalize PEIS to conduct additional analysis in response to public comments

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard extended the timeline to finalize the Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) for the Base Seattle Modernization project from May 7th, 2023 until December 31, 2023. after receiving permission from the Department of Homeland Security.

This extension enables the Coast Guard to consider public comments received on the Draft PEIS and conduct additional analysis that will help inform a final Record of Decision (ROD).

The Draft PEIS can be read in its entirety at the following online location: https://www.dcms.uscg.mil/NEPA.

The Coast Guard will offer the public the opportunity to review the final PEIS prior to issuance of a ROD stating the Coast Guard’s decision on the selected alternative.
