HOUSTON — The Coast Guard medevaced a 46-year-old man from a tanker vessel near Freeport, Texas, Friday.
Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a call at 12:30 p.m. from the agent of the American Phoenix stating a man aboard was experiencing severe chest pain as well as pain across the left side of his body near Freeport.
Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Freeport 45-foot Response Boat–Medium crew to assist.
The RB–M rendezvoused with the vessel, took aboard the man and transferred him to emergency medical services personnel waiting at Station Freeport.
The man was in reportedly in stable condition.
"Thanks to the great communication from the Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders, we were able to respond rapidly to this medevac," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Jayven Amanonce, crew member on the case. "We train every day to prepare for cases like this, and that preparation resulted in today's successful medevac."
