MIAMI — Coast Guard Cutter Paul Clark's crew repatriated 75 people to Cuba, Sunday, following interdictions off Florida's coast.
A g ood Samaritan alerted Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel , Tuesday, at approximately 9 a.m., about 2 miles southwest of Marquesas Key.
A Coast Guard Station Islamorada law enforcement crew notified Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel , Tuesday, at approximately 10:40 a.m., about 5 miles southeast of Upper Matecombe Key.
Coast Guard Isaac Mayo's crew alerted Coast Guard District Seven watchstanders of two migrant vessels, Wednesday, at approximately 12:45 a.m., about 15 miles northwest of Elbow Cay, Bahamas.
A good Samaritan alerted Coast Guard District Eight watchstanders of a migrant vessel, Wednesday, at approximately 2 a.m., about 160 miles south of Venice, Louisiana.
Coast Guard Cutter Robert Yered's crew alerted Coast Guard Cutter James' crew of a migrant vessel, Thursday, at approximately 5:50 p.m., about 15 miles southeast of Marathon.
"Don't take to the sea," said Petty Officer 1st Class Nicole J. Groll, Coast Guard District Seven. "It may disqualify you from the new Department of Homeland Security immigration programs."
Since Oct. 1, 2022, Coast Guard crews interdicted 5,846 Cubans compared to:
- 6,182 Cuban Migrants in Fiscal Year 2022
- 838 Cuban Migrants in Fiscal Year 2021
- 49 Cuban Migrants in Fiscal Year 2020
- 313 Cuban Migrants in Fiscal Year 2019
- 259 Cuban Migrants in Fiscal Year 2018
- 1,468 Cuban Migrants in Fiscal Year 2017
- 5,396 Cuban Migrants in Fiscal Year 2016
Once aboard a Coast Guard cutter, all migrants receive food, water, shelter and basic medical attention.
