Coast Guard rescues 5 boaters near Marco Island

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach boat crew and Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew rescued five boaters, Sunday, after their 30-foot vessel suffered reported mechanical issues 23 miles southwest of Marco Island.

U.S. Coast Guard, Navy Helicopter Squadron execute critical medical evacuation of Filipino mariner northwest of Guam

SANTA RITA, Guam — In a display of interagency cooperation, a commercial mariner in urgent need of medical care was safely evacuated from his vessel 100 nautical miles offshore to Guam on March 2, 2024, thanks to the actions of the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy's Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 (HSC-25). "Our collective efforts today, closely following another recent rescue, underscore our enduring commitment to mariner safety. The partnership between the U.S. Coast Guard, HSC-25, and local agencies like Guam Fire Rescue is pivotal in ensuring the well-being of those at sea," said Cmdr. Ryan Crose, the case's search and rescue mission coordinator at U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam. "Search and rescue is a priority mission for us, covering an expansive Search and Rescue Region of 1.9 million square miles. The only way to effectively cover such a vast area is through robust partnerships."

U.S. Coast Guard leadership engages in key maritime activities in Saipan to enhance response, safety, and security

SAIPAN, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands — Saipan partners hosted a series of critical engagements involving senior leaders from the U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam, highlighting the Coast Guard's ongoing commitment to maritime safety, security, and environmental stewardship in the CNMI from Feb. 28 – March 1, 2024. Capt. Nick Simmons, commander of U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia and the Captain of the Port for Guam and the Marianas, was joined by Cmdr. Ryan Crose, response department head; Lt. Henry Dunphy, emergency management and force readiness division chief; Mr. Jack Ary, port security specialist, and Petty Officer 1st Class Ryan Dunning, a marine science technician, conducted a productive series of meetings, exercises, and assessments aimed at bolstering the CNMI's maritime capabilities and readiness.

Coast Guard rescues 12 migrants following unlawful voyage interdiction in the Mona Passage

Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Doyle’s crew rescued 12 male migrants from a capsized vessel, Monday, following the interdiction of an unlawful irregular maritime migration voyage in Mona Passage waters near Puerto Rico. Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Doyle’s crew repatriated 11 of the migrants, who claimed to be Dominican Republic nationals, to a Dominican Republic Navy vessel just off Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Wednesday afternoon.

The Coast Guard and good Samaritans assisted four mariners Tuesday after the 64-foot commercial fishing vessel Monica became disabled about 85 miles from the New Jersey coast.

Coast Guard rescues 4 adults and a child after their vessel took on water off the San Diego Coast

SAN DIEGO — Crewmembers aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Sea Otter rescued four adults and one child from the 58-foot pleasure craft Playhouse after the vessel began taking on water between San Clemente Island and Dana Point, Calif., Saturday afternoon.  Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego's Joint Harbor Operations Center received a distress call from the Playhouse at approximately 11 p.m., reporting a shaft seal failure that led to 2 feet of water entering their engine room during transit from San Clemente Island to Dana Point. The crew of the Playhouse successfully halted the leak and promptly alerted the Coast Guard.

Coast Guard Cutter Alert returns home to Astoria for the last time

ASTORIA, Ore. – The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Alert (WMEC 630) and its crew returned to their homeport, Monday, after a 59-day counter-narcotics patrol in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. This patrol is scheduled to be the cutter’s last patrol out of its current homeport of Astoria, Oregon.
