Coast Guard holds Assumption of Command ceremony for Marine Safety Detachment Lewes

BALTIMORE — Lt. Danielle Taylor will assume command of the newly established Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Lewes as the unit’s first commanding officer during an assumption of command ceremony at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal in Lewes, Delaware, May 29, 2024. Taylor, the current supervisor of Marine Safety Detachment Lewes which will be disestablished, will be the first Coast Guard commanding officer in Delaware and is a significant milestone in the local marine safety community.

NEW LONDON, Conn., — Two-hundred and twenty-five ensigns graduated and commissioned for service at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Wednesday, May 22. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas delivered the keynote address during the 143rd commencement exercises on Cadet Memorial Field. The Class of 2024 arrived at the Academy on July 8, 2020.
