Coast Guard urges boaters to adhere to safety zone established for Bonnie G response in St. Thomas

The Coast Guard is urging boaters, Tuesday, to adhere to the safety zone established for the Bonnie G response in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.   “It is of the utmost importance for boaters and vessel traffic to adhere to the safety zone that was established by the Coast Guard, Friday, for the duration of this response,” said Lt. Cmdr. Brian Dochterman, Incident Command deputy for the Bonnie G response. “This is an active and complex working site and things could potentially become more complicated. We need commercial and recreational boaters to remain clear of this area for their safety and the safety of response crews working the site.”

Coast Guard responds to demasted schooner near Rockland Harbor, Maine

BOSTON – The Coast Guard responded Monday to a schooner that was reportedly demasted, injuring four of the 33 people aboard approximately a mile east of Rockland Harbor. Personnel aboard the Grace Bailey, a 118-foot schooner, contacted the Coast Guard Sector Northern New England command center around 10 a.m. requesting assistance after their mast reportedly broke and fell onto the deck causing head and back injuries to four people.
