UPDATE 1: Coast Guard, agencies continue response to Western Maui Fires
HONOLULU — The Coast Guard, along with federal, state, and local partners continue to respond following the Lahaina wildfires in Maui, HI.
Coast Guard Barque Eagle returns to New London after 4-month deployment
NEW LONDON, Conn. — The crew of the Coast Guard Barque Eagle (WIX 327) returned to the ship’s homeport in New London, Thursday, following a four-month deployment. This year, crew, cadets, and officer candidates sailed over 16,800 nautical miles, traveling to the Azores, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden as part of their annual training cruise, after departing New London, April 8, 2023.

Coast Guard detects 16 unauthorized drones during Seafair Weekend Festival
SEATTLE — The Coast Guard employed Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) capabilities in collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Seattle Police Department (SPD), and Mercer Island Police Department (MIPD) to enforce the FAA-issued temporary flight restrictions on Lake Washington during the 2023 Seafair Weekend Festival in support of the airshow.
Coast Guard responds to signal fire at Otay Mountain
SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard responded to a signal fire made by three men at the Otay Mountain Wilderness Area approximately one and a half miles north of the San Diego border, Wednesday. A Coast Guard Air Station MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew contacted Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center watchstanders after spotting a small signal fire at Otay Mountain. The crew landed safely in the vicinity of the fire and located the three men responsible for the help signal.
U.S. Coast Guard, Royal New Zealand Navy sign MOA enhancing joint objectives
ALAMEDA, Calif. – The U.S. Coast Guard and Royal New Zealand Navy signed a memorandum of agreement, May 2023, detailing processes that enable the exchange of military personnel to enhance joint service objectives. These professional exchanges will allow both nations to share experiences and knowledge, enhancing international partnerships as the two countries develop shared practices and doctrine in the maritime domain. Two Royal New Zealand Navy chefs deployed aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Stratton (WMSL 752) during the ship’s recent Western Pacific patrol. They enhanced the Stratton’s galley services by providing daily meals to 150 crew.

Coast Guard rescues three fishermen east of Nantucket
BOSTON – The Coast Guard rescued three fishermen five miles east of Nantucket, Saturday.At 12:48 p.m. First Coast Guard District command center watchstanders received an alert from an emergency position indicating radio beacon registered to the 55-foot commercial fishing vessel Miss Kara.
