UPDATE: Coast Guard, partner agencies suspend search for missing person in Willapa Bay

SEATTLE – The U.S. Coast Guard and partner agencies suspended search efforts at 5:30 p.m. Monday evening for a missing man in Willapa Bay, Washington. Rescue crews completed 18 different search patterns, covering 290 sq. miles during over 15-hours of searching.

ASTORIA Ore. – The Coast Guard and other agencies are searching for a missing man who was aboard a vessel in distress Sunday off the coast of Washington near the Willapa Bay entrance. Involved in the search are: • Coast Guard Air Station Astoria • Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor • Coast Guard Sector North Bend • Coast Guard Sector Columbia River • Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife

Coast Guard crews, tank ship Silver Dover assist boater in the Caribbean Sea near Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Coast Guard crews and the crew of the chemical tank ship Silver Dover assisted a boater in distress Saturday morning, approximately 57 nautical miles southeast of Puerto Rico.

Coast Guard rescues mariner in distress as wave capsizes vessel near mouth of Columbia River

The Coast Guard rescued a mariner in distress during a multi-unit response 6 miles west of the Columbia River mouth Friday, Feb. 3. Crews of Station Cape Disappointment and the National Motor Lifeboat School, along with an aircrew of the Advanced Helicopter Rescue School (AHRS), responded to the mariner's distress call. This was the first life saved by Petty Officer John "Branch" Walton, a rescue swimmer and student of AHRS. The mariner reportedly received minor injuries and was in stable condition when transferred from the Coast Guard' care. After the mariner was released to the care of emergency medical personnel, local authorities notified the Coast Guard that the individual is suspected to have stolen the vessel. The Astoria Police Department is leading that investigation.

U.S. Coast Guard, Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, and Navy Supervisor of Salvage conduct oil-spill-on-ice exercise in Alaska

Members from the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC), and Navy Supervisor of Salvage (SUPSALV) participated in an ice-based pollution response exercise at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) in Anchorage, Alaska, Jan. 30 through Feb. 2.
