U.S. Coast Guard cutter departs Japan following joint training with Japan Coast Guard

KAGOSHIMA, Japan – The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Kimball (WMSL 756) departed Kagoshima, Thursday, following a multi-day visit where the crew conducted a joint training exercise and professional exchanges with Japan Coast Guard members.

USCGC Bear returns home following 60-day deployment in Florida Straits

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The crew of the USCGC Bear (WMEC 901) returned to their home port in Portsmouth Wednesday after completing a 60-day deployment in the Florida Straits and Windward Passage. Bear’s crew supported Homeland Security Task Force – Southeast and Operation Vigilant Sentry in the Coast Guard’s Seventh District area of operations. While underway, Bear’s crew conducted counter drug and maritime safety and security missions while working to detect, deter and intercept unsafe and illegal migrant ventures bound for the United States.

Coast Guard medevacs man from vessel near Chignik Bay, Alaska

KODIAK, Alaska -- A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak helicopter aircrew, forward-deployed to Cold Bay, medically evacuated a mariner from the NOAA research vessel Oscar Dyson, Tuesday, near Chignik Bay. The aircrew, aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter, safely transported the 54-year-old patient to awaiting emergency medical services personnel in Sand Point. At 7:54 a.m., the 17th District Command Center watchstanders received a medevac request from the NOAA crew who reported that a crewmember was experiencing medical complications. The aircrew arrived on scene, approximately 18 miles south of Chignik Bay, at 11:07 a.m. and safely hoisted, transported, and transferred the patient to receive a higher level of care. The weather on scene during the time of the rescue included 8-foot seas and 20 knot winds.

Coast Guard rescues 3 surfers near Agate Beach, OR

ASTORIA, Ore. – The Coast Guard rescued three surfers in distress Sunday near Agate Beach. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Facility Newport transported all three people to shore, where members from Newport Fire Department were waiting to provide assistance.

Coast Guard aircrew rescues 3 men from disabled fishing vessel Dolphin II near Culebra Island, Puerto Rico

A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew rescued three men from a disabled fishing vessel off the northern coast of Cayo Norte just northeast of Culebra Island, Puerto Rico Saturday. Rescued are two U.S. citizens and a U.S. resident, who were forced to abandon the 39-foot fishing vessel Dolphin II after the vessel became disabled on two occasions near Culebra Island.
