#MEDEVAC (1/2) A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk crew hoisted a man and his cat in the Kennedy Entrance this morning. The man was drifting towards the Barron Islands, beset by weather and unable to sail. The Coast Guard responded after receiving his mayday call on VHF channel 16. https://t.co/Z8IU6Jk0WM

#FINAL Pan Viva weighed anchor and was cleared to return to sea. Pan viva is en route to its next port of call. Responders have stood down.

#UPDATE Pan Viva will evaluate weighing anchor later this afternoon as weather subsides. CGC Stratton (WMSL 752) and a tug from Dutch Harbor will be on scene to assist.

#UPDATE Pan Viva remains at anchor. Weather is anticipated to subside tomorrow and Pan Viva will assess weighing anchor. USCG and partner agencies are still staged to respond if needed.

#UPDATE Pan Viva remains anchored. A tug is underway to meet the vessel and discuss potential for getting underway. High winds persist but seas have reduced in the area.

#UPDATE Pan Viva remains anchored near Unalaska, AK. USCG and partner agencies remain in contact as the vessel awaits a break in heavy weather.

#UPDATE the Pan Viva remains at anchor & stable. USCG and partner agencies remain in contact with the vessel overnight. Weather reported as 30-40kt winds and 20ft seas. The next update will be tomorrow am.

#BREAKING (3/3) The Pan Viva isn’t experiencing any mechanical failures and there have been no impacts to the environment. The Coast Guard continues to evaluate the situation pending any developments. Another update to follow at 3:00 p.m. Alaska Daylight Time.

#BREAKING (2/3) A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew removed four crew members and brought them to Dutch Harbor and the Coast Guard Cutter Stratton (WMSL 752) is standing by in Udegak Pass. The weather on scene is 46 to 58-knot winds and 26 to 29-foot seas.

#BREAKING (1/3) The Coast Guard is responding to the Pan Viva, a 738-foot cargo vessel with 21 people aboard, beset by weather 2.3 miles northeast of Unalaska. Although intense weather conditions put the vessel in danger of running aground, the vessel is anchored and stable.
