Coast Guard inspection team reveals hazardous cargo threatening safety, security of Puerto Nuevo Terminals port facility in San Juan, Puerto Rico
A Coast Guard inspection team identified, during a routine examination, three gas-tank containers with Anhydrous Ammonia hazardous cargo that threatened the safety and security of the Puerto Nuevo Terminals port facility in San Juan, Puerto Rico, March 26, 2025. Following the finding, an interagency team conducted a sweep of the facility to inspect additional containers. The Coast Guard Sector San Juan Captain of the Port has prohibited the facility from storing and handing Anhydrous Ammonia and certain hazardous materials due to the facility’s lack of adequate firefighting capability.
