USCGC Waesche welcomes aboard Mayor of Pohang, Korea Coast Guard Leaders
U.S. Coast Guardsmen assigned to the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Waesche (WMSL-751) help leaders from the Korea Coast Guard, as well as Lee Kang-Deok, the mayor of Pohang, Republic of Korea, and Consul General Nolan Barkhouse, the U.S. Consul General to the Republic of Korea, board a small boat during a tour of the Waesche in Pohang, Republic of Korea, June 9, 2024. U.S. Coast Guardsmen welcomed the mayor of Pohang and leaders from the Korea Coast Guard aboard for a tour to highlight capabilities and best practices used by the U.S. Coast Guard. Waesche is assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force. Waesche is deployed to the Indo-Pacific to advance relationships with ally and partner nations to build a more stable, free, open and resilient region with unrestricted, lawful access to the Maritime Commons.
