Coast Guard rescues, repatriates 89 migrants to Dominican Republic following vessel interdiction in Mona Passage
Coast Guard crews repatriated 89 Dominican Republic nationals to the Dominican Republic, Nov. 2, 2023, following the interdiction of an overloaded, makeshift vessel in Mona Passage waters off the western coast of Puerto Rico. The migrant group was interdicted and rescued by the Coast Guard Cutter Jospeh Doyle from a grossly overloaded makeshift vessel taking on water in the late night of Oct. 31, 2023, during an unlawful irregular maritime migration event in the Mona Passage.
