Coast Guard detains passenger vessel after failed inspection
Multiple violations have led Coast Guard marine inspectors from Sector Key West to issue Flag State Detention for the 36-foot small passenger vessel Barracuda in Marathon, Florida, Sept. 20, 2023. Some of the noted discrepancies included significant amounts of oil and hydraulic fluid in the bilges, electrical wiring hazards, non-compliant fuel line installations, inoperable fuel shut-off valves, and through-hull valves, excessive water ingress at the shaft seal, the fixed firefighting system with indication it had been previously discharged, among others. (U.S. Coast Guard courtesy photo)
